hi everyone it's andrea from lightly, sketched and today my daughters chanel, and chloe will be demonstrating three, techniques that your children can use to, complete their coloring pages, and i'll be sharing with you seven, evidence-based benefits, of mindfulness coloring let's get, started, [Music], choose a coloring page that resonates, with you or your young artist, there are a variety of patterns and, inspirational phrases to choose from, in our mindfulness coloring book if, you'd like to download a free copy, just click on the link to my blog in the, description box below, by the way we'd really appreciate your, support so don't forget to like and, subscribe to our channel, and hit the notification bell so you, don't miss any of our new videos, our first technique is incorporating a, feelings chart, into your child's mindfulness coloring, have your child take a few seconds to, reflect, on how they are feeling in that moment, then using the feelings chart they can, match their feelings to a color, and use those colors to complete their, coloring page chloe will be using, shades of green blue and purple today, you can also use a surface protector, if you're using permanent markers to, prevent damage to the surface that, you're working on, i've talked about mindfulness many times, in my videos because i've personally, witnessed, the difference that it can make in the, mental health of my children, and students so i wanted to share seven, evidence-based benefits of mindful, coloring, this information was compiled from, psychology today, and mindful.org the first benefit is, that, mindful coloring reduces anxiety levels, because it calms the, amygdala which is the fear center of, your brain, it can also be used as a coping, mechanism when dealing with, life's challenges mindful coloring can, override stressful images unplugging, from technology promotes, creativity which can increase our, ability, to creatively problem solve mindfulness, coloring encourages patience and it also, improves attentiveness and reduces, impulsivity, in our children, mindfulness coloring fosters a sense of, compassion, and finally it can improve fine motor, skills, if you'd like to learn more about these, seven benefits or, read about my tips for helping kids deal, with distractions, while trying to be mindful as they color, visit my blog, i'll leave a link in the description box, below, as i mentioned before today we're using, ohuhu markers, the ones we're coloring with today are, double tipped, alcohol sketch markers which are perfect, for kids, they have a fine tip and a brush tip, the kit comes with 72 vibrant colors, plus an, alcohol marker blender and a surface, protector, these have been our go-to markers, recently because we love the fact that, the ink is alcohol-based, which ensures that all of our projects, will be smudge free, since the ink dries instantly and they, layer beautifully, as well, [Music], technique number two is add gel pens, and for this effect you'll need a, completed coloring page, and jelly roll pens in glitter and white, we'll be using a coloring page that my, 10 year old daughter completed to, demonstrate, we used a glitter jelly roll pen first, to outline some flower petals, then we used the white jelly roll pen to, add some simple lines, and dots, our third technique is called gilding, and for this effect you'll need a, coloring page and gold paint or, a gold gel pen my daughter used our, dream believe and achieve coloring page, from our book, and outlined the phrase in gold paint to, create a gilded effect, using a gold jelly roll pen is also a, good alternative, your children can then color in the rest, of the page using whatever media they, choose, or outline the entire page in gold to, create a beautiful effect, if you're looking for meaningful art, activities for your kids or students, that will help support their mental, health subscribe to our channel so you, don't miss any of our art tutorials, thanks for watching
