[Music], hi everyone, welcome to kids rock rock of the, foothills online forum for kids church, today we are continuing our series on, the armor of, god we are just past the halfway point, in our series, in the full armor of god and we've put, on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness the, shoes of readiness that come with from, the gospel of peace, and the shield of faith today as we move, on to the helmet of salvation i want to, ask a question we haven't posed yet, what is the purpose of wearing armor why, did soldiers of the past, gear up in suits of metal and why do, today's soldiers wear helmets and body, armor into combat, the answer is pretty simple every, soldier who goes to battle, wants to come home alive armor offers, soldiers protection, it guards their bodies and their vital, organs, it gives them defense against the, weapons of the enemy, armor can go a long way to protecting, soldiers from harm, but sadly mankind has yet to invent an, armor that is absolutely indestructible, even with the best body armor the best, helmet, and the best armor surrounding soldiers, in their vehicles, soldiers are hurt wounded and killed, the better we make our armor the more, destructive our weapons become, it's a never-ending challenge to keep, soldiers as safe, as possible the armor of god is not like, the armored roman soldiers wore, you don't see pastors sunday school, teachers or, everyday christians heading off to, school in body armor, we'd look pretty silly doing that no as, paul, said in ephesians our struggle is not, against flesh and blood, but against a spiritual enemy you need a, different kind of armor, to keep yourself from getting harmed, spiritually, today's piece of armor is quite possibly, the most, important of all paul says we are to put, on the helmet of salvation, salvation means that we have been saved, from sin, we have accepted jesus into our hearts, and we have become christians, salvation means that you're not partly, protected, you are completely protected by the, blood, of christ, today's scripture comes from the gospel, of luke if you have your bible at home, go ahead and grab it so you can follow, along, we're going to open up our bibles to, luke chapter 23, and we're going to read verses 32 to 43, two other men both criminals were also, led out with him to be executed, when they came to the place called the, skull they crucified him there, along with the criminals one on his, right, the other on his left jesus said, father forgive them for they do not know, what they are doing, and they divided up his clothes by, casting lots, the people stood watching and the rural, rulers even sneered at him, they said he saved others let him save, himself, if he is god's messiah the chosen one, the soldiers also came up and mocked him, they offered him, wine vinegar and said if you are the, king of the jews, save yourself there was a written notice, above him which read, this is the king of the jews, one of the criminals who hung there, hurled insults at him, aren't you the messiah save yourself and, us but the other criminal rebuked him, don't you fear god he said, since you are under the same sentence we, are punished, justly for we are getting what our deeds, deserve, but this man has done nothing wrong, then he said to jesus jesus, remember me when you come into your, kingdom, jesus answered him truly i tell you, today you will be with me in paradise, the world we live in is filled with sin, we are all born under a death sentence, and we, are doomed to die because we are sinners, the bible tells us that the price of sin, is death, and that none of us can do anything on, our own to pay that price, that's why god sent jesus to earth jesus, came to die, in our place he took the punishment of, sin, on himself even though he never sinned, god gave him victory over death and he, gave him the power to, extend that victory to anyone who, believes in him, just as he did for the thief on the, cross, salvation doesn't mean you might be safe, it means you are safe you are, saved and there's nothing the devil can, do to change that, he can kill your physical body but your, spirit belongs to god, when you have salvation you are bound, for paradise, salvation comes when we use our hands to, choose to become, followers of christ if we are, saved we are headed to heaven we are, headed home, no matter what happens on earth because, we belong, to jesus now let's check out today's, craft, for today's craft you're going to need, some glue, some scissors something to color with, you're also going to need two print outs, the printout of your soldier, that we've been working on and the, printout of, pieces of armor that we've been putting, on our soldier, if you don't have these printouts you, can check out the link below, and print them out at home so today we, are doing the helmet of salvation, and go ahead and start coloring your, helmet then you're going to cut it out, and, attach it to your soldier i've already, colored my helmet, so i'm going to start cutting it out, it's such a wonderful thing to know, that god loves us so much that he sent, jesus to die for us, that he sent jesus to save us, you know when jesus died he didn't die, alone, there were two men there with him both, of those men, committed crimes and they were convicted, and sentenced to death, but unlike jesus they were both guilty, but jesus wasn't one of those men knew, that, he understood that the person who was, being crucified next to him, was not just anybody that he was, god and because of that, jesus said today you will be with me in, paradise, because he knew who jesus really was, he's saved even though he was a criminal, even though he was being crucified it, didn't matter, he believed in jesus and that was enough, that was enough for god and he was going, to join, jesus in paradise when they'd both given, their last breath, there's something beautiful about that, and i am so thankful, that jesus says says the same thing to, me, that when i die eventually that i am, also saved because i, love jesus and i totally believe in him, and one day i'll get to see him in, paradise, just like that criminal did and you will, too, not for a long time but we can be, confident in the knowledge that god, loves us, and because of that we can wear our, helmet, of salvation with pride, the head is one of the most fragile but, vital parts of the body, our brains are in our head and that's, the organ we use to make, important choices soldiers must think on, their feet in combat, we all make decisions every day that, have consequences for our lives, whenever we go to ride our bikes we make, the choice to wear a helmet, or not when we play sports we make a, choice to wear, safety gear construction workers make a, choice, to protect their heads with helmets and, so do professional athletes, with the helmet of salvation paul is, challenging us, to make one more important decision the, decision, to choose jesus the most important, decision any of us will ever make is, whether or not we want to accept, jesus as our savior god sent jesus to do, what we could not do, he became our shield and our protector, against, the eternal death that comes from sin, there's nothing we can do in our own to, gain our salvation, but the bible tells us if we place our, faith in jesus, he will give us the helmet of salvation, freely, salvation means you are forgiven it, means your future is secure, you are god's child and you are bound, for heaven, now it's time for our questions and, remember, you can pause the video at any time to, give you more time, to talk about it as a family today's, first question, is why did jesus die, [Music], our next question is why did jesus, forgive the thief on the cross, and our last question is how can we be, saved, from sin, let's pray heavenly father we thank you, for sending jesus to bring us salvation, help us to
