for the temple, david said my son solomon is young and, inexperienced and the house that is to, be built for the lord, must be exceedingly great and famous and, glorious in all the lands, therefore i will make provisions for it, okay david knew exactly where the temple, should be built, it was to be built on ornan's threshing, floor the very spot god had sent, what from heaven fire down from heaven, and david quickly started making, preparations for the future temple that, who would build david's son, solomon david said the temple, or the house for the lord must be, exceedingly, what exceedingly great and, famous and glorious in all the lands, he wanted this temple to be very special, in king david's final years of life, david provided, tons and tons of gold and silver and, bronze and, iron for building this temple as well as, timber and stone david told solomon that, he wanted to build a house for the lord, god, but the lord told david that he had shed, too much blood and had waged too many, wars, the lord had revealed that solomon was, the one to be the next king, and to build this temple david said to, solomon, now my son may the lord be, with you and may you successfully build, this temple, above all may the lord give you insight, and understanding so that you might keep, the law of the lord so that you will, succeed, by carefully following the lord's, statutes and, ordinances that the lord commanded, moses so david said that the most, important thing for solomon, was to obey the lord only by obeying god, would solomon have success, david then gave solomon the plans for, the temple, the spirit of the lord had put those, plans in david's mind, and then david turned those plans over, to solomon, okay so what were some of the things, that david provided for the temple, tons and tons of gold and silver, and bronze and iron timber, and stone david had shed too much, blood and waged too many wars to build, god's temple, the lord had revealed that who was to be, the one to be the next king, and to build this temple solomon, and what did david tell solomon was the, most important thing for solomon to do, so that he would have, success obey, the lord and who put those temple plans, in david's mind, the spirit of the lord the lord god, himself, did then who did david pass those plans, on to, his son solomon well king david was, nearing death and in his final days of, life, he could not keep warm even when they, put blankets on him, david's son adonijah saw his father, weak and that he was nearing death and, he took that opportunity to make himself, king he acted like his older brother, absalom had acted years before, he had chariots and horses and 50 men, run ahead of him, as he traveled about he was acting as if, he was, already king okay so adana just saw his, father's, weak condition and took the opportunity, to make himself what, to make himself king well the prophet, nathan saw that and he went quickly to, bathsheba, nathan urged bathsheba to go to king, david and remind him, that he had said that her son solomon, shall be king, nathan told bathsheba to let david know, what adana jah is, doing so bathsheba went to king david, and told him, nathan confirmed all that bathsheba was, saying, david knew adanajah was not the one, god had chosen to be the next king so, david said, today solomon shall anointed solomon and the trumpet sounded, that the people there loudly shouted, long, live king solomon and all the people, rejoiced so, loudly that it made the ground shake, okay who urged bathsheba to go to king, david, to remind him that he had said solomon, shall be king, the prophet nathan and who did david, make, king that day solomon, well soon after david died, he was buried in jerusalem also known as, the, city of david david had reigned for, 40 years the first seven of those years, david reigned in hebron over the tribe, of judah, and the last 33 of those years, david reigned in jerusalem over, all the tribes of israel after david's, death, solomon sat on his father's throne, okay when david died he was buried in, jerusalem, jerusalem was also known as the city of, who, the city of david and david reigned, seven years in hebron over the tribe of, judah and 33, years in israel over all the tribes of, israel, how many years all together did david, reign as king, can you do that bath it was 40 years, well not long after becoming king, solomon went to gibeon, and offered a thousand burnt offerings, on the altar to the lord there, and that night the lord appeared to, solomon a dream, and god said ask for whatever you want, from me, so god told solomon that he could ask, for anything from the lord, and solomon answered lord my god, you have made me king and place in my, father david, but i don't know how to be king so give, me, wisdom to govern your people, and to know the difference between right, and wrong solomon asked for wisdom, wisdom to govern god's people, wisdom to know what is right and what is, wrong, you see wisdom is the ability to know, what is right, and what is true solomon knew that, wisdom comes from god proverbs 9, 10 tells us that the fear of the lord is, the beginning of wisdom, that means that if we don't respect god, and his authority, we haven't even started to be wise, there is no way we can know what is, right and true, unless we know who the who the one, is who can tell us what is right and, true, only god knows what is right, and what is true and when we fear the, lord when we respect him and his, authority over our lives, and when we seek god and ask god for his, wisdom, much like solomon did then god, gladly gives us his wisdom, the lord was so pleased that solomon, asked for wisdom, and not for anything else okay god, appeared to solomon in a dream and told, him he could ask for, anything what did solomon ask for, wisdom and solomon asked for wisdom to, govern, whose people god's people the israelites, and what is the ability to know what is, right, and true wisdom, solomon knew that wisdom comes from who, from god and proverbs 9 10 tells us that, the fear of the lord is the beginning of, what, wisdom well solomon could have asked for, wealth or, honor or a long life but the lord was so, happy that solomon asked for wisdom, and not for those other things so the, lord was so, pleased with solomon that he decided to, give him, more wisdom than anyone else who ever, lived and the lord decided to give, solomon, what he did not ask for god gave, solomon wealth and honor and the lord, said that if solomon walked in god's, ways and obeyed god's commands, then he could have long life as well, when solomon woke up he realized that, god had appeared to him in his dream, okay the lord was so pleased with, solomon that he decided to give, solomon more what than anyone ever, to live more wisdom, and the lord also decided to give, solomon wealth, and what else honor, the lord then said that solomon could, have a long, life if he walked in whose ways and, obeyed, whose commands gods, well soon after solomon demonstrated, his wisdom to the world you see two, women, came to him to settle their disagreement, one woman accused the other woman of, stealing her newborn, baby then the other woman said no, you were the one who stole my baby you, see each woman had a baby, but one of the babies died both women, said the living baby belonged to them, king solomon, said bring me a sword so they brought, him a sword, he then ordered that the living child be, cut in half, and each woman get a half of the baby, of course that would mean the living, baby would die, well the first woman said please my lord, give her the living baby don't, kill him but the second woman said, neither i nor you shall have him cut him, in two, well then the king knew exactly who the, true mother was, king solomon said give the living baby, to the first woman, do not kill him she is the mother, solomon knew that the real mother, would never want her baby killed, she would rather the other one woman, have her baby than to kill him, when everyone in israel heard king, solomon's verdict, they were in all of him they saw, that he had wisdom from god, okay how did king solomon know who the, true, mother of the living baby was the true, mother would never want her baby killed, okay everyone in israel saw that solomon, had wisdom, from whom from god, will god bless solomon with great riches, and with peace in the land and god, continued to give solomon wisdom and, understanding and his fame spread, more and more because of it he was able, to, understand science concerning plants and, animals, that no one else understood at that time, now this was before there were science, books and science classes, so men of all nations came to, listen to solomon's wisdom and to learn, from him, they wanted to learn all these things, because there was nowhere else to go to, learn them, kings from around the world world heard, about solomon's wisdom, so they sent men to him just so they, could learn, from him and bring that information back, home, okay so what did solomon become world, famous for, his wisdom and understanding, now solomon began building the temple, for the lord just as his father had, asked of him, as it was being built the lord spoke to, solomon and said, if you obey all my commands, i will fulfill through you the promise i, gave to david your father and i will, live, among the israelites so solomon, completed the construction of the temple, and it was amazing no, stone could be ins it could be seen, inside the temple, everything was covered with cedar or, pure gold the temple was adorned with, precious stones and the most holy place, was built, inside the temple the ark of the, covenant would eventually be transported, and placed in that most holy place, now it took seven years to be to build, but when it was finished it was the most, amazingly beautiful temple or building, of any kind, that the world had ever seen okay, no stone could be seen inside the temple, everything was covered with cedar or, pure what, pure gold and how many years did it take, solomon to finish the construction of, the temple, seven years okay are you ready for your, ten questions, just hit the pause button if you need a, little bit more that solomon, could have a, long life if he walked in, whose ways and obeyed whose commands, time gods number nine, how did king solomon know who the true, mother was of that living baby, time he knew that the true mother would, never want her baby killed last question, question 10, what did solomon become world famous for, time his wisdom okay, how many did you get right now multiply, that by 10
