a lot of times in life we have something, that's called trials and trials are hard, things that happen to us maybe sometimes, we lose something maybe some time, somebody's mean to us and we can't, always stop trials from happening they, just happened but our heavenly father, has told us that he can help us through, our trials much like this man that we're, going to talk about even though he had, this glorious coat of many colors bad, things happened to him but he turned to, his heavenly father for help let's talk, about that and let's draw let's go, [Music], all right so let's get drawing this coat, let's start by making a big smiley face, right here and this is going gonna be, like the neckline on your shirt or on a, dress this is gonna be for joseph's robe, so i am going to just draw a, big smiley face right here at the top of, my page that's where your head goes in, right there, all right and now for the shoulders you, don't want to draw all the way down yet, you kind of want to just go out this way, because it needs to sit the shirt needs, to sit right up on your shoulders or in, this case on joseph's robe so we go out, that way, and then we go out the other way on the, other side, maybe i need to go a little bit longer, there, all right, now, for our robe we're gonna go, down a little bit i like to go a little, bit in, but then just go all the way down, to the bottom of the page, and do the same thing on the other side, and then go all the way down to the, bottom of the page, and then we're going to cross across the, bottom, and there we go it looks like a really, long t-shirt, and now we're going gonna put some arms, on this robe, and, i don't know what kind of rope joseph, had i thought it'd be fun to give him, some really nice long, robes so i'm gonna draw a long, line down from the shoulder and this is, where the arms go in and then i'm going, to parallel this line or follow it but, i'm just going to go here, from the body of the shirt, and go down and draw another line, then i'm going to connect that, now let's go over on the other side, we're going to draw down, and then, do the same thing follow that line and, go down all right there you go now we, have a nice big robe and now this is the, funnest part because, clothes can look like anything there can, be all kinds of designs patterns colors, our heavenly father has given us all, kinds of colors to see and work with, in this life, so, i want you to do this you can watch what, i'm doing and, do some of the things that i'm doing, maybe you'll think of some things or, maybe you'll come up with your own, things maybe you'll put zigzags on it or, you'll put squares or triangles, or maybe you'll color all one big one, color whatever you like and when we get, done maybe we'll look at some, robes that some other people drew and, this is a good time that if you want to, you could, color these with your family and you, could talk about the story of joseph, because you guys are probably talking, about this this month and, about some of the hard things that, joseph had to do and where he turned for, help and how he turned to his savior for, help there's a lot of stories about how, he did that throughout his entire life, so i'm going to start coloring this and, maybe talk a little bit this is one of, the many stories that, joseph had in his life, he, started out his life living his family, and his dad gave him this coat, of many colors and i'm just gonna start, coloring this, i like to put just like a lot of, little designs on it, and when he made this coat or got this, coat for his son, and he got this coat for his son because, he really, he really loved this son of his very, very much probably because joseph was a, really good guy, who did all the things that his father, asked of him, so he got him this really beautiful coat, and you know what, it made all of his, brothers really jealous they didn't like, that he got this coat, and so they took the coat away from him, and it made joseph really sad, so get some green in there i'm gonna, pick another color, but i think one of the really nice, things that joseph did is he did love, them, and i think it can be really hard you, guys have probably there's been times, when your brothers or your sisters they, got something that you didn't get to, have and sometimes that can make people, a little bit angry huh, and it can sometimes feel like it's, unfair, and we all want to give everybody as, much stuff as we can our heavenly father, even wants us to all be happy, let's see i'm gonna put some blue in, here you could even do maybe some, squiggly lines if you want, it's really fun because you can just, kind of do whatever you want with this, coat, you could put some buttons on it, but one of the things that i noticed, that joseph always did when things got, really hard, was that he would turn to his savior and, he would ask for help, and then when he learned the things that, he would that he should do he was very, obedient to those things, so when the savior asked him to do, something then he did it, and a lot of times he would hear the, savior's voice he would hear it through, dreams that he had, which i think is really neat, so after joseph lost his coat his, brothers also did something really, horrible, they sold him into slavery, so he didn't get to, see his family for a long time because, when he sold into slavery he went into, egypt, but while he was in egypt, he continued to follow the savior even, though things seemed really hard and, things didn't seem very fair at all, he continued to listen to the savior and, because he, did the people in egypt they gave him, special jobs, and he was able to help lots of people, in egypt and even the king of egypt, ended up really liking joseph and he, and you should ask your family about it, your mom or your dad but he was able to, save the entire kingdom, because he was willing to follow the, savior, and not only that but because he went to, egypt he was also able to save his, family because, lots of bad things happened to all kinds, of people joseph lost his coat, but his family why while joseph was in, egypt, there was a big famine in the land, and a famine, is when there is not enough food and, sometimes not enough water, but, joseph he prayed to the lord and he and, he had a dream, or actually was the king who had a dream, and he wanted to know what it meant and, so, he asked joseph, because he heard that joseph was a, righteous man, who knew about dreams, and so he knew through the lord, that, our heavenly father was going to cause, there to be this famine in the land, where there wouldn't be enough, food so, he was able to say hey we can save up a, whole bunch of food is what he told the, king, so that when, the famine comes we will have enough, food, so then what happened later on, is there was a famine in the land, just like, heavenly father said, and lots of people all over the land, couldn't get enough food, and so, joseph's brothers, they didn't have food either they were, running low on food and so his dad, joseph's dad he sent his other brothers, to egypt, and they didn't know that joseph was in, egypt they thought he was long gone, maybe even dead they actually felt, really bad about it they felt like they, made a really horrible mistake, and so when they went there to get food, they actually met joseph, and joseph forgave them of all the, things that they did wrong, and he forgave them for ripping up his, coat and taking it away, and for selling him into slavery, and he got them all food and they were, so happy, joseph dad was happy joseph's brothers, were happy, and it was all because joseph, when things got really difficult, he turned to the lord in prayer, and did the things which the lord asked, him to do and he never stopped doing, that, through his entire life, and so then his family was really, blessed because of that and lots of, other people were really blessed because, of that, and i think joseph learned a lot of, things in a valuable lesson, about how our heavenly father wants to, bless us, when we choose to follow him, so if i'm going too fast you can pause, this, because i think it can be really fun to, just, do your very best work on making this, you're kind of like a fashion designer, and you just get to make your own, clothing, maybe you could imagine that, this is a cloak that i would want to, wear if i was a shepherd in the old, testament it would look like this or, maybe you want to be like joseph's dad, and maybe you want to create this pretty, cloak, and give it to somebody, just like, um jacob gave, this robe to his son joseph because it, is really fun to give gifts to people, i think one thing that we learned from, this story is we shouldn't get jealous, about the gifts that other people give, that's just somebody being nice to that, person huh, because we all get gifts at different, times in life joseph had to wait a long, time to get certain gifts, he was a long ways away from his family, and he thought he lost a lot of things, but he got all those things, back all right i'm going to finish this, up right here, and then i'll think it'll be really fun, to, i want to show a lot of pictures of, different robes that different people, drew and what colors that they used, they could be really fun because there's, so many different ways that you can, color these anyway that's my robe just, to show you that you can do whatever you, want first i'm going to show you this, one this one the person they wanted to, make it look a lot like mine but use, different colors in the same places so, you can see they have all these, different colors like you know up here, i've got green and maybe they've got, some purple or red, so that one's really fun, i've got this other one here this one, has some different shapes in it, you can see there's some triangles a, square some stripes on here, that's really pretty i bet they had a, lot of fun making that one, here's one from an adult, and they went totally different they, just did a whole bunch of stripes, i thought was fun to even add a little, heart in here, if i had this shirt i would wear every, day, all right and here we got another one, lots of other fancy colors we've got, browns and greens and yellows to me this, one actually even looks kind of like, maybe what an ancient robe would look, like i don't know what joseph's rope, looked like but these can look like, whatever you want they don't have to, look like mine they can look like your, own piece of art you can give these to, somebody else, just like jacob gave, a coat to his son joseph that he loved, very much, especially this one's really fun there's, this one they added in joseph you can, see the head and the hands, and a lot of colors already here some, blue oh look there's even some feet, under here so i think these all look, great they're so fun they all remind us, that, when things get difficult in our lives, we can remember joseph and how he turned, to the lord and that we can do the same, thing and when we do that our heavenly, father will help us out they'll help our, family out and they'll help all the, people around us out because that's what, heavenly father wants us to do he wants, us to learn and grow and he wants to, help us as we turn
