waves called, tsunamis, look them up they're pretty scary you, wouldn't want to go surf on those guys, number three the movement of what's, called tectonic, plates underneath our feet, have formed large mountain ranges like, the himalayas and the andes, number four earthquakes can happen in, any type of weather it doesn't matter if, it's hot or cold or normal, it can happen anytime last but not least, number five alaska, here in the u.s the united states, is the most active state for earthquakes, and has even bigger earthquakes than, good old california, that is pretty crazy those are your fast, five facts, [Music], [Music], i yeah, [Music], [Music], oh, [Music], [Music], [Music], hi miss carolyn, [Music], hi wendy you made it just in time for, story time, today our story is israel captures, jericho and is found in the book of, joshua chapter five and it goes until, chapter six, it says when joshua was near jericho he, looked up and saw a man standing in, front of him, the man was holding a sword he was ready, for battle joshua went up to him he, asked, are you on our side or are you on the, side of our enemies, i am not on either side he replied, i have come as the commander of the, lord's army then joshua fell with his, face to the ground, he asked the man what message does my, lord have for me, the commander of the lord's army replied, take off your sandals, and the place you are standing is on, holy ground so joshua took them off, the gates of jericho were shut tight and, guarded closely because of the, israelites, no one went out and no one came in then, the lord said to joshua i have handed, jericho over to you, i have also handed over to you its king, and its fighting men, march around the city once with all your, fighting men in fact, do it for six days have seven priests, get trumpets made out of ram's horns, they must carry them in front of the ark, on the seventh day march around the city, seven times, tell the priests to blow the trumpets as, you march you will hear them blow, a long blast on the trumpets when you do, tell the whole army to give a loud, shout the wall of the city will fall, down, then the whole army will march up to the, city and everyone will go straight in, that's going to be amazing, so joshua the son of nun called for the, priest, he said to them go and get the ark of, the covenant of the lord i want seven of, you to carry trumpets in front of it, he gave an order to the army he said, move out march around the city, some of the fighting men must march in, front of the ark of the lord, when joshua had spoken to the men the, seven priests went forward, they were carrying the seven trumpets as, they marched in front of the ark of the, lord, they were blowing the trumpets the ark, of the lord's covenant was carried, behind the priests, some of the fighting men marched ahead, of the priests who were blowing the, trumpets, the others followed behind the ark and, guarded all the priests, that whole time the priests were blowing, the trumpets but joshua had given an, order to the army, he had said don't give a war cry don't, raise your voices, don't say a word until the day i tell, you to shout, then shout so he had the ark of the lord, carried around the city once, then the army returned to camp they, spent the night there, so joshua got up early the next morning, the priest went, and got the ark of the lord the seven, priests carrying the seven trumpets, started out, they marched in front of the ark of the, lord they blew the trumpets, some of the fighting men marched ahead, of them the others followed behind the, ark and guarded all of them, the priests kept blowing the trumpets on, the second day they marched around the, city once then the army, returned to camp they did all those, things for six, days wow that's a lot of marching, and on the seventh day they got up at, sunrise, they marched around the city just as, they had done before but on that day, they went around it seven times, on the seventh time around the priest, blew a long blast on the trumpets, then joshua gave a command to the army, he said shout, the lord has given you the city the city, and everything in it must be set, apart to the lord to be destroyed but, the prostitute rahab and all those with, her in her house must be spared, that's because she hid the spies we sent, but keep away from the things that have, been set apart to the lord, if you take any of them you will be, destroyed and you will bring trouble on, the camp of israel, you will cause it to be destroyed all, the silver and gold is, holy it is set apart to the lord so, are all the things made out of bronze, and iron, all those things must be added to the, treasures kept in the lord's house, the priests blew the trumpets as soon as, the army heard the sound they gave a, loud shout, then the wall fell down everyone charged, straight in, so they took the city they set it apart, to the lord, to be destroyed they destroyed every, living thing in it with their swords, they killed men and women they wiped out, young people and old people they, destroyed cattle sheep and donkeys, then joshua spoke to the two men who had, gone in to check out the land, he said go into the prostitute's house, bring her out, also bring out everyone with her that's, what you promised, her you would do so the young men who, had checked out the land, went into rahab's house they brought her, out along with her parents and brothers, and sisters, they brought everyone else there with, her they put them in a place outside the, camp of israel, then they burned the whole city and, everything in it, but they added the silver and gold and, treasures kept in the lord's house they, also put there, the things made off bronze and iron so, joshua spared the prostitute rahab, he spared her family he also spared, everyone else in the house with her he, did it because she had the spies she had, sent to jericho rahab lives, among the israelites to this day i'm so, glad reb, helped and that they saved her and her, family, at that time joshua made a promise and, called down a curse, he said may the person who tries to, rebuild this city of jericho be under, the lord's curse, if that person lays its foundations it, will cost the life of his oldest son, if he sets up his gates it will cost the, life of his youngest son, so the lord was with joshua and joshua, became famous, everywhere in the land, so the israelites saw god's faithfulness, when he rescued them from slavery in, egypt they experienced his provision, when he gave them food in the wilderness, yet they continued to grumble and, complain because they didn't truly trust, him, and though their spies discovered the, promised land was, indeed a good land the people weren't, excited, for they also heard the cities were full, of powerful men and that's found in, numbers, the book of numbers their fear blinded, their trust, that god would be faithful to his, promise because of this, god said that no one in the first, generation would enter the land, and that's found in deuteronomy their, fear blinded their trust, that god would be faithful to his, promise the next generation however, they also would grumble and complain, spent their entire lives depending on, god to provide for their every need, when god asked them to do unconventional, things they followed his lead, because god was with him the second, generation crossed a flooded river, marched around the fortified city of, jericho and overtook it, the second generation saw the land god, had promised, god kept his promise he made to bring to, his people into a good, land and he proved to his people that he, was and is and, is always faithful he only asked that we, trust him that they should trust him and, follow his lead so he could transform, them into faithful people who served him, with their whole hearts god asks us to, trust and obey him, we need to allow our walls of fear to, come tumbling down, in order to trust him he will keep his, promises to us, too proverbs 3 5 and 6 says, trust in the lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he, shall direct, your paths that was a cool story, i'm so excited you get to sing with us, today wendy i'm so excited, [Music], how was your trip yeah okay so, one of the things that this says is that, if you're outside in an earthquake, happens, you want to stay away from things that, could possibly fall on you like a power, line or if you're next to a playground, or a wall or something like that, you want to go to an open spot so that, if it falls down it doesn't hit you, so that's one tip another one is, if you're inside somewhere if you're in, a building, you want to drop cover and hold, so like this table right here you'd want, to get under the table, and hold on so that you're covered, or go like this underneath, make sure that you're covered or, if that doesn't work you can always find, a door, and go inside the door frame and kind of, like hold yourself in the door frame, yeah so those are some things to, remember, if you're in a vehicle and an earthquake, happens, it says that you need to pull over, yeah you need to pull over park stay in, there buckled up, in a safe zone, preferably not by anything that could, possibly fall on you, so here's something that we could kind, of help help us remember these tips, if inside drop cover and hold, that's where you'll be safe if outside, stay, outside and find an open space so it, kind of rhymes there, like a repetition to remember so if, inside, drop cover and hold that's where you'll, be, safe if outside stay outside and find an, open, space did this help you at tumbling down, it reminded me to have trust in god and, it was kind of almost a symbolic, thing that was happening because not you, know we don't always have an earthquake, every day, but there is things in our life that, comes and makes it feel like, our lives are in a constant earthquake, and it reminded me that we need to trust, god during those times, and physically this was an earthquake, and i was relying on god and your help, getting me underneath the table there, but, i think it's important that we remember, to trust god when we feel like our walls, are going to, come tumbling down, oh and you're praying while you're, underneath the doorway, and i was praying underneath there you, got that right, isn't it cool that we have the option to, go to god and pray when we're failing, and it's so important that those people, who don't know who jesus are learn about, him so they have that option to go to, him, [Music], and who do you think gets to tell those, people about jesus, yes we do that's a cool thing to do so, if you guys, are listening and paying attention it's, so important for you guys to know who, jesus, and to have a relationship with him so, when your walls start
